Most of the 24 children at Kannerland centre in Limpertsberg were placed in this group home following a Court Decision. Aged 5 to 18 years old, all of these children have suffered from a difficult and disadvantaged home situation. The project “Méi a besser léieren” headed by the Elisabeth Steftung, the entity In charge of the Kannerland centre helps these children overcome the different hurdles they face. Many of these children are behind their peers academically. To help them get a good step up in life, the center provides afterschool tutoring and one-on-one mentoring. Thanks to funding provided by the ATOZ Foundation, the Kannerland Centre has been able to recruit a teacher dedicated to following the academic progress of each child.

The ATOZ Foundation renewed its partnership with Elisabeth Steftung in 2017. The “Méi a besser léieren” project was so successful that the organisation decided to extend its work to all Luxembourg centers in order to help more and more children to get a step up in life. This father-reaching initiative now supported by the ATOZ Foundation has been named: “Fit 4 School – Fit 4 Life”.
